TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

Cusco is a department privileged millionaire tourism industry, as very few people in the world possess natural, archaeological, colonial, traditional and folk. This makes it the first resort of Peru with global proportions.
These wonders are:
Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary stone citadel. - discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. It is built in a very special spot covered in vegetation on the mountains of Machu Picchu (Old Mountain) and Huayna Picchu (Young Mountain), and bordered by the river Urubamba or Vilcanota. Includes military constructions, plazas, temples and platforms. 
Cyclopean fortress of Sacsayhuaman. - Inca times on three overlapping platforms that have an average of 360 m long. Are connected by stairways and access doors of stone. One of them is 9 m high and 5 m wide.
Kenko. - It says it was a shrine. There is a huge boulder of 5.90 m in height that looks like a cougar, are also passages, canals and stairways with stone engravings representing this animal.
Puca Pucara. - Inca administrative and military center formed by terraces, stairways, turrets and niches. 
Tambomachay. - Known as the Inca Baths. He is considered a place of worship of water. 
Sacred Valley Urubamba River Valley. - Or Vilcanota, on its way you can see: 
-          Pisac: Picturesque village at the beginning of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Renowned for its traditional market and its irrigation system and Inca astronomical observatory, highlighting the intiwatana and terraces. 
-          Yucay: Nestled on a beautiful warm and fertile. In this town of importance is the palace of Inca Manco Tupac Sairy Segundo. Was center of agricultural production of the Incas.
-          Calca, attracts visitors because of its beautiful landscapes enhanced by the snowcapped Pitusiray and Sawasiray. This province is the archaeological complex of Huchuy Qosqo, the Hot Springs of Machacancha (sulfur baths) and Minasmoqo (cold carbonated water). 
-          Urubamba: Area located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It was another pre-Hispanic agricultural center. Fertile and welcoming place, where you can stay overnight for several excursions. 
-          Ollantaytambo Archaeological Park. Huge agricultural complex, social, administrative, religious and military Tahuantinsuyo time. The Spanish called Ollantaytambo fortress. 
-          Chinchero: Ancient Inca agricultural center in the district of the province of Urubamba ayllus composed of 10 or indigenous communities. Beautiful landscape surrounded by the snowcapped Andean perpetual Chicon, the Wequey Willca (commonly called Puma Sillo or Veronica). Typical Sunday market where barter.
-          Oropesa. - could be called the "land of bread" because of its many ancient home furnaces which prepares a tasty peasant bread. 
-          Piquillacta. - A set of ruins of the Wari culture (pre-Inca). Building for defensive purposes and storage of agricultural products. 
-          Andahuaylillas. - Church founded in 1580. Facade of great simplicity, contrasting with the expressive richness of colonial baroque art from within (golden altars, murals, paintings and polychrome ceiling). 
In the provincial capital, Cusco, we find: 
Koricancha. - Set which is located in the so-called Qosqo Wanka (cairn). 
Hatunrumiyoc. - House of Inca Roca, where the famous stone of twelve angles in the street of the same name. 
Plaza de Armas. - Called Huacaypata in Quechua, which means cry or moan, because expressions of reverence and submission with which they carried out the military or religious ceremonies there. Tradition says that this place was designed by the founder Manco Capac and symbolic center of the empire. 
Cusco Cathedral. - was originally erected in what was the ancient temple of Sunturwasi (House of God), Triumph Church today. It was built later on Inca Viracocha's palace. Presents a plant in a Latin cross with processional aisles, a chapter house, three naves, a sacristy and ten side chapels. The facade and interior are in Renaissance style. The interior is decorated with carved cedar and alder. Also, paintings by important artists and embossed silver.
The Society of Jesus. - Before the Amaru Cancha (fence of the Serpent), palace of Inca Huayna Capac, a splendid stone building. Beautiful paintings, especially the wedding of a nephew of Saint Ignatius of Loyola with a native princess. 
Church and convent of La Merced. - Founded in 1536. The facade is of obvious beauty. Stresses the church tower unique Baroque stonework. In the sacristy is kept custody of his fabulous gold and precious stones. 
Church and convent of Santo Domingo. - Spanish Construction on the Inca temple or Temple of the Sun Coricancha.
Church and convent of Santa Catalina.- It has a small but interesting museum. Church of San Blas. - The oldest parish church in Cusco, in the neighborhood of artisans. Stresses the pulpit, which is the most extraordinary artistic woodwork Churrigueresque Spanish. 
Cita Choqáekirao. - In the foothills of Mount Salkantay, is the only place where you can enter these ruins which, by their majesty, would be higher than Machu Picchu.
